ToggleWhat Is Fine Art Printing?
For painters and illustrators, print sales can provide an lucrative source of passive income as well as the opportunity to sell to prospective collectors who may not have the money to buy original works. However, prints should not be an afterthought, but rather their production should be approached with the same eye for quality that went into the creation of the original work.
Giclée printing, is a high-resolution, digital photographic print process which allows you to create the most accurate reproductions of your work today. But this alone is not enough, and for any print to be worthy of the title “fine art”, it should be made using the highest-quality, light-fast inks on an archival, acid-free paper or canvas which has the same aesthetic and tactile qualities as the finest artists’ stock.

About My Fine Art Printing Service
For many artists, the prospect of creating fine art prints of their work can be daunting. Like anything which involves the digital realm, it can sometimes seem overly technical and complicated. In truth, it can be, but after a decade’s experience as a professional printer, not to mention several years printing my own photographic work prior to that, I have done everything I can to make it as simple and painless as possible for my clients.
You can either bring your files in to my studio or they can be uploaded via a form here. I assess all files before printing, so I’ll let you know if there are any problems with your file which might affect print quality. Many issues can be easily fixed or compensated for with a few quick Photoshop tweaks, performed without charge AFTER I have discussed them with you. I am also more than happy to advise on paper stock and the ideal size for the print if you have yet to decide. My working process is highly personal, and many of my clients view me more as a trusted collaborator than a mere service provider.
Fine Art Printing Materials
My museum-quality, fine art giclées are made with an Epson 9900 which produces ultra-high resolution prints up to 44″ wide. Epson’s UltraChrome K3 inks offer a wide colour gamut with deep blacks, making deep colours and subtle washes easy to reproduce. These are pigment inks with a resin coating on each particle to produce prints with an even gloss and high durability across a wide variety of media. K3 inks have a lightfast rating of up to 108 years for colour and over 200 years for black and white, making them ideal for fine art applications.
I stock a range of archival papers and canvas from Canson, Hahnemühle, and Ilford. The papers I use are all certified acid-free and designed to meet the requirements of galleries and museums. My printer is calibrated, using custom ICC profiles to ensure my prints are of the highest quality and accuracy.
If you are planning to sell your work via a retail outlet or gallery, I can supply acid-free packaging materials and certificates of authenticity to go with the prints.

Frequently Asked Questions
I can receive files at my studio, digitally via the upload form here, or by any common file-transfer service. 300ppi tiff files are preferred but not essential – simply send me the highest quality files you have and we can take it from there. If you do not have files already, or have doubts as to their quality, I have written a brief guide to DIY artwork photography here. If you want the best results possible, I am also a specialist artwork photographer and I can create perfect captures of your work suitable for reproduction at any scale.
I offer discounts for bulk orders but I also operate a print-on-demand service for artists interested in selling their prints online or by order. This is a more cost-effective way for artists to sell their work as it requires minimal initial expense – you only print what you sell.
I ship prints to clients anywhere in Australia or to buyers on their behalf anywhere around the world. Proofs and test prints are available at minimal cost.
